Job Summary:
The Print Press Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining various types of printing presses to produce high-quality printed materials. This role involves ensuring the efficient and accurate production of print jobs, troubleshooting equipment issues, and performing routine maintenance tasks.

Setup and Operation:
Prepare and set up printing presses according to job specifications and production schedules. Load printing plates, adjust press settings, and ensure proper ink and paper supply. Conduct test runs to ensure proper ink coverage, alignment, and registration.

Quality Control:

  • Monitor print quality throughout the production run, making necessary adjustments to maintain high standards.
  • Inspect printed materials for color consistency, clarity, and accuracy.
  • Address any print defects or issues promptly to minimize waste and downtime.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
Perform routine maintenance on printing presses, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn parts. Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical or technical issues to ensure continuous operation. Keep detailed records of maintenance activities and press performance.

Safety and Compliance:
Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. Adhere to company policies and procedures, including those related to quality control and environmental regulations.

Collaboration and Communication:
Coordinate with other team members, including prepress technicians, designers, and finishing staff, to ensure seamless workflow. Communicate any production delays or issues to supervisors and suggest improvements.

Qualifications

Education:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in printing technology is a plus.

Experience:
Proven experience as a print press operator or in a similar role within the printing industry. Familiarity with various types of printing presses (e.g., offset, digital, flexographic).

Skills:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy materials (up to 50 pounds).
  • Standing for extended periods and performing repetitive tasks. Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

Working Conditions:

The role involves working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, chemicals, and machinery.

May require overtime, shift work, or weekend hours to meet production deadlines.
